KLP48 Senior Member Spills on Monthly Salary & Livestream Cut-Off!
Video: KLP48 Member Salaries
The moment when the livestream was cut due to the members discussing their salaries was revealed! Fans were left wondering—how much do they actually make?
During a recent livestream, some KLP48 members got a bit too real about their earnings, leading to an abrupt cut-off. A senior member later spilled some details, breaking down how salaries work in the group.
She explained that salary is divided by a fixed amount, which results in their monthly pay. However, members don’t just rely on that base salary.
They also receive bonuses, which can significantly boost their earnings. These bonuses are determined by the success of activities, as well as individual efforts—similar to JKT48 in Jakarta and the AKB48 Group in Japan.
While fans might expect these bonuses to be random surprises, the members actually have an idea of what activities will bring in extra cash.
A long-time agency staff member even admitted that back in the day, 48 Group idols had way more work and, in turn, higher bonuses.
“For some rookie groups, the bonuses they used to receive were actually way more than what we get as a monthly salary now,” the senior member revealed.
That comparison raised eyebrows, making many realise just how much things have changed.
According to the staff member, the early days of launching a new group are never easy. The motivation for members to keep going isn’t just about the money—it’s about the dream of being an idol.
“At the beginning, we weren’t really thinking about salary,” she admitted. But as time passed, the reality of sustaining a living from just being in the group became a struggle for some members.
That struggle has even led to members leaving the group because they simply couldn’t afford to continue. It’s not just about personal expenses but also the cost of maintaining an idol’s lifestyle.
Interestingly, she also mentioned that all members used to receive New Year bonuses back then. While that might not always be the case now, individual members still have opportunities to earn outside of the group.
“At the end of the day, how much we earn also depends on side gigs like endorsements, TV commercials, hosting gigs, magazine features, or brand ambassadorships,” she explained.
So while the base salary might not be massive, hardworking members can still earn well through external jobs.
With KLP48 still in its early years, it’s clear that the salary system is something that may change over time. But for now, the members who push themselves harder and make the group more successful will see the most rewards—just like in any other 48 Group.
