The long-awaited Chinese drama Justice in the Dark is finally here!
Based on Silent Reader (Mo Du) by Priest, this gripping crime thriller follows eccentric billionaire Pei Su (Zhang Xincheng) and dedicated detective Luo Weizhao (Fu Xinbo) as they dive into a series of mysterious murders.
Set in the Xinyuan Civilization Year 253, the story kicks off with a wave of murders happening in quick succession.
Luo Weizhao, determined to solve the case, teams up with Tao Ze (Liu Yihang) and Lan Qiao (Xiao Yu).
Their investigation takes an eerie turn when they uncover links to individuals with “zero-degree empathy”—people who completely lack emotional connections.
As the case unfolds, a courier’s murder leads Luo Weizhao straight into the heart of a dangerous criminal organisation.
But the deeper he digs, the more tangled things become. Adding to the complexity, Pei Su always seems to be involved, pulling Luo Weizhao back into a past they both tried to leave behind.
Luo Weizhao and Pei Su share a complicated history. Once close, their relationship shattered when Luo Weizhao attempted to reveal a truth about Pei Su’s mother.
Now, as they chase after criminals, they also struggle with their own unresolved traumas.
Fans of the novel were excited about the drama’s release, but Justice in the Dark came with some unexpected changes.
Originally titled Abyss, it underwent a name change before airing. Even the main characters’ names were altered from Fei Du and Luo Wenzhou (in the novel) to Pei Su and Luo Weizhao in the series.
Despite airing with little promotion, Justice in the Dark has already gained attention for its intense plot and psychological depth.
