BINI’s salary talk has become a hot topic among fans after a surprising moment in a livestream.
Watch: Video of Mikha and Stacey Talk About BINI members salaries during Live stream
The moment when the livestream was cut due to the members discussing their salaries was revealed, sparking curiosity about how much they actually make.
So, how much do they get paid? The members discuss their current salaries, giving a rare glimpse into the financial side of being in a P-Pop group.
One of the members explained that their salary is divided by a fixed amount, which results in their monthly salary. However, they also receive bonuses, which play a big role in their total earnings.
These ‘bonuses’ are decided based on the success of activities, as well as if members individually work harder and bring more success.
In short, their income isn’t just limited to their base salary, as additional work and achievements can boost their earnings.
Interestingly, bonuses were usually not unexpected. Members could figure out what activity garnered the bonus, which increased the members’ salaries at times.
This means that the more successful their projects, performances, and activities are, the higher the bonus they receive.
However, some fans pointed out that for some rookie groups, bonuses alone received back then were way more than the current monthly salary of today’s idols.
A senior agency employee also admitted that back then, girl group members used to have a lot more work to do as well. This suggests that while earnings might have been higher in the past, the workload was also more demanding.
However, the first few years during the start of their project launching a group, the members’ motivation to keep going was that they wanted to be idols, they were not thinking about the salary.
This passion for performing and making music kept many idols going, even when their earnings were not significant.
Despite their love for the industry, financial struggles have led to some difficult decisions. One member shared that she feels that at times, the group has lost members because they could not sustain a living from just being in the group and its salary alone.
The reality is that not every idol can afford to continue if their income isn’t stable enough to support their daily needs.
Back then, all members would receive New Year’s bonuses, which was an extra incentive for them to stay.
However, times have changed, and now members earning individually depends on side jobs like endorsements, TV commercials, hosting gigs, magazine shoots, and brand ambassadorships.
These opportunities provide additional income, but not every member gets the same level of external work.
BINI, a Filipino girl group formed in 2019 through ABS-CBN’s Star Hunt Academy, consists of eight members: Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena. Despite the challenges, they continue to rise in the P-Pop scene, proving their talent and dedication.
While the discussion about their salaries has sparked debate, it also highlights the financial realities of being an idol. Passion drives them, but financial stability remains a crucial factor in their journey.
