Sakurazaka46’s Yuzuki Nakashima Caught in Dating Scandal, Fans Fume Over Rule Double Standards!
Watch: Yuzuki Nakashima Spotted with Married Boyfriend
Things are getting messy in the world of idols — again.
Sakurazaka46’s Nakashima Yuzuki is in hot water after reports surfaced claiming she’s been secretly dating a non-celebrity boyfriend.
The news, which has been spreading like wildfire across fan forums and social media, has sparked a wave of criticism — not just toward Yuzuki, but also at the group’s management for allegedly turning a blind eye.
As most J-pop fans know, Sakurazaka46 (and the wider Sakamichi family of groups) operates under a strict “no dating” rule — a controversial but long-standing part of the idol culture.
Fans don’t just treat idols like celebrities; they see them as part of an emotional experience. For many, the idea is simple: idols are supposed to focus on their careers, performances, and fans — not on romance.
So when Yuzuki’s alleged boyfriend came into the picture, graduation rumours popped up almost instantly.
Fans are now urging the management to re-evaluate how these rules are being enforced. Some feel it’s unfair if she’s allowed to stay unpunished, especially when other members — even from the same generation — have faced suspensions, public apologies, or full-blown graduations over similar situations.
“There should be consistency,” one fan wrote. “If others were made to leave for dating, why not her? She’s not above the group.”
Another said, “If she’s having relationship drama behind the scenes, that could affect her performance. That’s not fair to fans who support the group with time and money.”
There’s also been criticism of the management’s silence so far. Many expect a formal statement soon, and depending on how that goes, we might see some drastic changes — either from Yuzuki herself or from the company trying to save face.
Of course, some fans are defending her too, saying idols are human and shouldn’t be expected to put their personal lives on hold forever. But that voice is getting drowned out at the moment by the stricter, more traditional side of the fandom.
With Yasushi Akimoto’s name still attached to the Sakamichi groups, many are pointing out that he’s always enforced a particular structure — members are expected to follow the rules, just like employees follow company policies. No exceptions, no favourites.
For now, Nakashima Yuzuki is still officially a member. But if history is anything to go by, we might not be able to say that for much longer.
