F5ve Disbandment Rumours? What’s Really Going On With the Girl Group
So, is F5ve breaking up or not?
That’s the big question flying around social media lately, with fans wondering when—or even if—the Japanese girl group will disband. Formed in 2022 under LDH Japan and US-based Three Six Zero, F5ve (pronounced “fi-vee”) started out as SG5, and features five strong names: Sayaka, Kaede, Ruri, Miyuu, and Rui, with global producer BloodPop in the mix as their executive producer. Big vibes, right?
But with 2025 marking their third year in the game, people are starting to ask: when’s the end date?
No Member Rotation, No Guarantee
Unlike classic J-pop groups like AKB48 or Morning Musume, which rotate members in and out like a long-running soap, K-pop and hybrid-style groups like F5ve don’t really do that. Once the line-up is set, that’s pretty much it—so when members leave, it’s often the end of the road for the group too.
That’s what makes disbandment so common, even for groups with a strong fanbase. There’s no built-in plan for the next generation of idols to take over. It’s all or nothing.
Contract Expiry in Sight?
Word on the street is that F5ve signed for an initial five-year run, meaning contracts could be up around 2027. While nothing’s official yet, it’s totally possible for members to renew their contracts—but that doesn’t always mean the group stays together.
Plenty of idols have renewed their agency deals but chosen to go their own way musically. Some stick with the company for solo work, acting, or other ventures, while gently leaving the group behind. It’s a pretty common move these days.
Will They Go Solo?
Another reason people are whispering about F5ve’s future is because, well—they’ve all got potential as solo stars. If you’ve been following the BLACKPINK girls, you’ll know the drill. Even if they’re still technically in a group, most of them are doing solo gigs now and thriving on their own.
Same could happen here. Sayaka’s charisma, Ruri’s vocals, and Kaede’s stage presence are all strong enough to carry solo careers if they wanted. And with BloodPop involved, there’s even crossover potential in Western markets.
So… Are They Disbanding or Not?
At the moment? No confirmation. No denial either. It’s all still rumours and speculation. But the five-year contract talk is getting louder, and unless the agency puts out a solid statement, fans are going to keep guessing.
If F5ve do call it quits in a couple years, it wouldn’t be shocking—it’s more or less how this system works. That said, don’t count them out just yet. They’ve got time, talent, and a global platform. If the chemistry stays solid and they’re enjoying the ride, they might just renew and keep it going.
Until then, we’ll be watching… and hoping for more bangers from the F5ve girls.
